Mirrors are the best thing that has ever happened to automobiles. Not only are you able to see behind you, but to the sides of you. They are what helps us when we back out, switch lanes or need to make sure that no one is around us while driving. In order to be extra careful when it comes to being on the road this upcoming winter, you need to make sure that your mirrors are all good to go. You never know what could happen when you’re driving around and the conditions seem to take a turn for the worst.
Here are some tips to keep your mirrors in the best shape that they can be in for the winter.
When it comes to your side mirrors, you need to make sure that you do not see any of your vehicle in them. When you’re sitting in the driver’s seat, make sure to look each way to see what you do see when you’re looking into them. It should be the side of the car, without the car actually being in view. If you can see your car, you’re going to want to tilt the mirrors out a bit more so you can see more of what is next to you and less of the car.
The rear view mirror is not to see the kids in the back, it is not to block the sun – it is for looking out of so you can see what or who is behind you. You need to make sure that it is angled enough so you can see clearly through the back window. You should make sure that the mirror is positioned enough so that you have a clear view of the whole back window – minus kid heads.
Making sure that your mirrors are in good condition is always a plus, as well. This means making sure that they are clean and spotless. You do not want to drive around with a blob of bird poop in the way of seeing something important that is coming straight at you – so clean them up!
If you’re missing a mirror, make sure to fix this before you decide to head out on the road. You do not want to make a mistake and have no mirror. This could cost you a fine. You could also seriously injure yourself, anyone in your car and anyone that you might come into contact with.
It is best to be safe this upcoming winter, so take some time to evaluate the mirrors that are in your car. It can make a big difference when it comes to being able to see where you’re going and who or what is around you at all times.
